WHO WE ARE
JANUARY 2004
The Western States Black Republican Coalition (WSBRC) is a coalition designed to serve Black Republicans
residing in the 24 states west of the Mississippi River.
This coalition was born as a result of many conference calls, communications and interaction between
the western states of Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and Washington. These conversations led to an organizational meeting
that took place in Tulsa, OK on 12/12 and 12/13/03. In addition to representatives from the above states there was also a
representative from the state of California.
This gathering of Black Republicans in Tulsa laid the foundation for the organization of WSBRC by
developing Bylaws for the coalition, electing founding and initial officers and establishing a strategic planning process.
It is our belief that the collaboration among local African American Republican Organizations, Clubs
and Activist will create a powerful base to foster the election of Republicans, especially Black Republicans to national and
local political offices, wherever possible.
It is anticipated that All of the 24 Western States (West of the Mississippi) will concur
that this is an opportune time for development of a coalition of Black Republicans through which we can network, support one
another and join together to institute, within our local communities, and galvanize support for the party and unify the exceptional
grass roots work that local organizations and individuals are currently engaged in.
